· Family Business Award

To be eligible the business must be family owned and operated by more than one generation. In addition to the above criteria, applicants will be assessed on the integration of the family into the business and its effect on business practices, culture and division of responsibility. Succession planning if relevant should be identified.

· Trades Professions and Services - sponsored by msl| Michael Sing Lawyers

This category recognises all trades including subcontractors, professions (eg medical, legal etc) through to service sector industries.

· Retail, Wholesale and Distribution - sponsored by Suncorp

To be eligible, applicants must be in either the retail or wholesale or distribution sectors. Franchisors as well as Franchisees operating in any one of these sectors are eligible.

· Manufacturing and Construction - sponsored by AusIndustry

To be eligible applicants must be either in the manufacturing sector or in the construction sector. Any applicant that subcontracts to the construction sector, ie electrical, plumbing etc should apply under the Trades Professions and Services sector.

· ICT and Multimedia - sponsored by Griffith University

This category pertains to applicants who use, apply or develop Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Multimedia products and services or who enable and enhance the practices of other (non-IT) businesses through technological advances and innovations.

· Tourism, Hospitality and Events - Sponsored by Trade Queensland

To be eligible for this diverse category must be in the tourism, hospitality, recreation and leisure industries. Businesses conducting events are also eligible to apply.

· Emerging Business- sponsored by Digga Australia

To be eligible for this award, applicants must not have been in operation more than 5 years and no less than 2 years.

· Mayor’s Innovation GC Award - sponsored by GCCC's Business GC

Applicants need to demonstrate significant innovation in either management and/or business practices or in their products or services. Applicants need to be able to show how this innovation has given them a ‘competitive edge” in the market place.

· Environment and Sustainability Award - Sponsored by GCCC's Environment & Transport Directorate

Applicants should highlight their environmental practices both new and continuing and how these practices enhance and sustain the environment.
