Mavella Superfoods

Mavella Superfoods manufactures vitamin and mineral rich powders s for children to supplement their diets. Founded by Cheryl Stewart, and Jaime Turner, Mavella Superfoods began with a passion to create highly nutrient superfood formulas for fussy eaters. Starting as an offshoot of drink manufacturer Koala Karma, Mavella Superfoods now exports to nine countries. The company was recently awarded a Food and Beverage Industry Award for the Health Food Category in 2016.

Family Business:
Nova Biomedical

Yatala-headquartered Nova Biomedical is a national and international supplier of specialist testing and maintenance services for the health industry. Nova is a biomedical engineering company that performs planned maintenance and reports to medical equipment. Established in 2012 by the Welch family, the company has now grown to employ 10 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees, who are called in for specific projects. They have now also expanded their operations to Victoria and Adelaide.

Retail, Wholesale and Distribution:
JSW Powersports

JSW Powersports is the largest watercraft dealer in Australia and has been awarded the Number One Sea-Doo personal watercraft dealer in the world for the past 6 years. JSW Powersports is also the Australian distributor of Sea Fox Boats, the 6th largest boat manufacturer in the US, and in 2017 were appointed as the Gold Coast's only authorised Malibu and Axis boat dealers for wakeboarding and water skiing towboats.

Manufacturing:
Evolve Skateboards

Evolve Skateboards is a world-leading manufacturer of top quality electric longboards, with distribution and support centres now servicing more than 30 countries. Their mission is to make the highest performance electric longboards as possible. They are multi-award winners being recognised as Queensland Exporter of the year in 2017 and more recently in 2018 wining a European Product Design Award for their Carbon GT Series.

Construction and Trades:
NTS Group

NTS Group specialise in civil pipeline infrastructure works for various local governments and private sectors nationwide. The privately owned NTS Group was established on the Gold Coast in 2005 and has since been has been involved with some of Queensland's most challenging civil contracting projects. This has included works on the Gold Coast Light Rail, which involved relocating and installing a range of pipelines over 24 hour shifts throughout the Gold Coast CBD, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Professions and Business Services:
GANDEN Engineers and Project Managers

GANDEN provides engineering and project management services to government, mining and resources sectors, construction industry and industrial clients. GANDEN has particularly developed a reputation for providing engineering services to the water industry. GANDEN now works with all water authorities in South-East Queensland and was hired recently to review designs for a new Desalination Plant being built by the Colombian Government.

Health and Wellbeing:
Hip To Toe

Hip To Toe is a structural and routine podiatry clinic based at Arundel. They aim to get their patients out of orthotics, out of pain and to keep them from needing surgery. Taking over an existing clinic in 2014, Hip To Toe rebranded and were originally treating 90 patients a week. They now treat around 300 patients a week, have grown to 6 employees and receive triple the referrals from GPs.

IT and Digital Business:
GCOMM

GCOMM is a multi-award-winning technology company that specialises in the delivery of broadband networks, cloud and managed IT services to medium businesses and corporations with multiple office locations. Established in 1996, the company now has nearly 80 employees. Its customers include GCOMM has more than 500 direct customers and 700 indirect customers throughout Australia and overseas.

Tourism, Hospitality and Events:
Zambrero Oxenford, Burleigh, Nerang and Coolangatta

In mid-2014, Scott and Shae Chapman purchased a stake in Zambrero Surfers Paradise. By 2016, they owned 50% of the Zambrero restaurants on the Gold Coast with stores in Burleigh, Oxenford, Coolangatta and Nerang. Starting out with 10 staff, they now employ 50 staff. They have now donated 250,000 meals to people in need through the "Zambrero Plate for Plate" initiative.

Student Employability:
Frizelle Sunshine Automotive

Frizelle Sunshine Automotive has been operating on the Gold Coast for 33 years. The business features 24 automotive brands and now employs more than 830 people. The company actively engages students as interns from Griffith and Bond University, runs apprenticeship programs for various roles and offers work experience for international students from TAFE Queensland. On average the company appoints 30 students into full time roles each year.

Mayor's Innovation GC Award:
Envirotech Education

Envirotech Education is a Registered Training Organisation based at Burleigh Heads. They provide vocational education and training at certificate, diploma and advanced levels to international and domestic students. Offering a range of courses including environmental science, business management, marketing, hospitality and child care, Envirotech Education now has 51 staff and has expanded with additional campuses in Byron Bay and Currumbin Valley.
