Business awards innovate and excel for 2018

A Who's Who list of the Gold Coast business and political elite turned out in force to celebrate new sponsors, a new category and a new year for the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

More than 50 of the Coast's leading power brokers turned up for the launch of the 2018 awards at the head office of the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group, the winner of the 2017 Gold Coast Business of the Year title.

This year the awards have two new sponsors, Ramsden Lawyers and Study Gold Coast. The awards' other major sponsors include City of Gold Coast; Regional Development Australia Gold Coast; Flight Centre Business Travel; Choice Homes; Westpac, Harvey Norman Commercial Queensland and Optus Business Centre Gold Coast; Griffith University; Gold Coast Airport; Pindara Private Hospital and The Southport Private Hospital.

The awards also have a new look, with the creative team from major supporter, The Graphic Design Company, redesigning the awards' marketing materials to promote the 2018 theme "Innovate and Excel".

"The awards have grown to become the region's most comprehensive and prestigious awards scheme and they are continuing to grow,'' said Mr Cousins.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Ian Cousins said the awards had grown significantly in size and importance during the past 23 years.

"Every year the quality of the entrants becomes even more impressive and the array of industries from which the businesses come from shows how much the Gold Coast economy has changed in the past 23 years.

"These days many of our winners and our sponsors are household names in the Queensland business sector but every month we always receive one or two surprises when little known companies pop up to claim honours."

Mr Cousins said the awards had become an important part of the business calendar, so much so that they are now tied to the Gold Coast City Council's procurement policy.

Entries for the first monthly awards are due at 5.00pm on Tuesday, May 1.

The awards' media sponsors include the Gold Coast Bulletin, Nine NBN Television, 92.5 Gold FM and 90.9 Sea FM and Regina King Photography.

The GCBEA's major supporters are KPMG, Bloomtools, Bond University, Document Solutions Australia, The Graphic Design Company, Consulting Hall, The Star Gold Coast and Bruce Lynton Jaguar Land Rover.
