Business jet set get set for 2019 awards

A Who's Who's list of Gold Coast business community enjoyed the high life at the launch of the 2019 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

More than 50 of the Coast's leading power brokers turned up for the exclusive launch of the 2019 awards held in the penthouse at the Soul super tower in Surfers Paradise.

Growing construction company Condev, which was named as the 2018 Gold Coast Business of the Year title, hosted the event in the penthouse, which they are currently refurbishing.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards' president Ian Cousins said the penthouse provided the perfect venue for the 2019 launch.

"The awards, which are now in their 24th year, are about rewarding those business operators who are high achievers in the field.

"We recognise and honour the best of the best in the Gold Coast business community and nothing says success much better than a penthouse.

"The awards have grown to become the region's most comprehensive and prestigious awards scheme and they are continuing to grow.

"Every year the quality of the entrants becomes even more impressive, the competition to win one of the awards becomes tougher and the array of industries from which the businesses come from are increasingly diverse.

"The different sectors from where our winners now come from shows how much the Gold Coast economy has changed in the past 24 years.

"These days many of our winners and our sponsors are household names but every month we always receive one or two surprises when little known companies pop up to claim honours."

Mr Cousins said the awards had become an important part of the business calendar, so much so that they are now tied to the Gold Coast City Council's procurement policy.

Entries for the first monthly awards for 2019 are due at 5.00pm on Tuesday, May 1.

The awards' major sponsors include Ramsden Lawyers, Study Gold Coast, City of Gold Coast, Regional Development Australia Gold Coast, Choice Homes, Westpac, Harvey Norman Commercial Queensland, Optus Business Centre Gold Coast, Griffith University and Gold Coast Airport. The awards' media sponsors include the Gold Coast Bulletin, Nine NBN Television, 92.5 Gold FM and 90.9 Sea FM.

The GCBEA's major supporters are KPMG, Document Solutions Australia, Bloomtools, Consulting Hall, The Graphic Design Company, The Star Gold Coast, Regina King Photography and Bond University.
