SEE Group named Gold Coast Business of Year

Written on the 1 December 2025

Helensvale-headquartered SEE Group has been named as the Gold Coast’s Business of the Year for the second in a row.

SEE Group, which was established by brothers Brian and Bruce Turner in 1988, was named the annual winner in front of a crowd of more than 700 business and political leaders at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards gala at The Star Gold Coast on Saturday night.

It is only the second time in the 30-year history of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards that a company has won two years in a row.

The last time a company achieved the milestone was in 2008 when Zarraffa's Coffee claimed consecutive wins.

SEE Group specialises in major infrastructure, urban development and mining projects across Queensland and New South Wales.

The business comprises four main arms: civil engineering, quarrying, fleet management and mining.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Award president Adam Twemlow said the company had experienced an exceptional year of growth.

“In the past 12 months the company has nearly doubled the number of its employees to 820 and it nearly doubled the revenue that it generates,’’ Mr Twemlow said.

The company also won the annual Construction and Trades Award.

Mr Twemlow said the quality of the entrants in the 2025, the Awards 30th year, had been exceptional.

“In 2025 we had hundreds of entries, and our dedicated judging panel certainly had had a challenging task choosing the winners,’’ Mr Twemlow said.

“The debate in the final judging was particularly extensive although all the judges were really excited about the chosen winners.

Mr Twemlow said the diversity of the businesses now entering the awards as opposed to 30 years ago showed how quickly the city was maturing.

“The Gold Coast, while its roots was originally agriculture and then tourism and construction, is emerging as a powerhouse in a diverse range of industries,’’’ he said.

“It is in no way surprising to me that the city has had the fastest growing economy of all cities in Australia for the past two years.”

The annual winners in the other categories of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards were:

  • Emerging & Micro Business: GC Flower Market
  • Manufacturing: Morlife
  • Mayor’s Innovation Award: Centre of Movement
  • Retail, Wholesale and Distribution: Amazonia
  • IT & Digital Business: BITS Technology Group

  • Education, Training & Employment: Kokoda Youth Foundation
  • Ian Cousins Citizenship and Community Award: YTB Plumbing
