Exhibition Company Shines at Awards

A specialist Gold Coast exhibitions company that has been involved with the Big Bash, NSW Fashion Week and the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, has been honoured for its work.

GCD Exhibitions, which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of custom exhibition displays and company fit-outs, has won the manufacturing award at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards for June.

Owner Craig Billett says the adoption of a new production process has reduced the need for highly specialised staff, reduced costs for clients and increased the company’s profit margins.

“We have bounced back from the COVID-19 crisis while some of our major industry rivals were not able to survive,’’ said Mr Billett.

“In the past we constructed displays using timber framing but recently we switched to using aluminium framing. The fixed-length framing pieces lock together, speeding up the construction process, reducing the cost and reducing our environmental impact.

“The timber frames could only be used once or twice at most, but the aluminium frames have a life expectancy of between 10 and 15 years. All the walls of our displays are now constructed with these aluminium frames and then we add custom elements to them for each individual project.”

Mr Billett said winning the award was a great honour for himself and his team.

“I think it is great recognition for all the team’s hard work over our many years in business on the Gold Coast,’’ said Mr Billett.
