Coast 2 Coast cleans up at awards

A family owned earthmoving business that is nearly 50 years old has cleaned up at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards. Coast 2 Coast Earthmoving, which was founded by Kevin Bycroft in 1967 and is now run by a third generation of his family, won the Trades Services and Professions category at the monthly awards.

Now headed by Ross Hildebrand, Coast 2 Coast has access to a fleet of 400 earthmoving machines through its branches in Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards vice-president Richard Holt said Coast 2 Coast was an example of the high quality of businesses that were headquartered in the city.

"There are some truly amazing businesses in this city and our awards program is designed to reward businesses like Coast 2 Coast that are presenting the Gold Coast business credentials positively throughout Australia,'' he said.

Coast 2 Coast specialises in bulk earthworks, excavation, demolition and the construction of boulder sea walls across South East Queensland. Its customers include household the likes of Village Roadshow, Aldi, Griffith University, Meriton, Sunland and the Queensland Government.

In the other categories, Evolve Skateboards rolled away with The Mayor's Innovation GC Award, Regen Australia weeded out the opposition to claim the Environment and sustainability honours, Quality Energy secured the Manufacturing and Construction titles, the judges were sold on John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach for the Family Business trophy, JUMP! Swim Schools dived into success in Health and Wellbeing, Totally WorkWear Gold Coast looked fine in the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution arena, GCOMM powered up in the Knowledge Management and Information Technology sector, The Village Markets snapped up Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Watmar Electric Contractors powered up in the Emerging Business category and Charlotte McNeill from Escape Hunt Gold Coast received the Be My Guest Service Award.
