The Gold Coast's leading business awards scheme is growing from strength to strength after signing up another one of South East Queensland's leading companies as a major sponsor.

The committee behind the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards have announced that Flight Centre Business Travel has joined as first-time sponsors of the honours program, sponsoring the Emerging Business Award category.

Flight Centre Business Travel join a Business Who's Who list of other sponsors including City of Gold Coast, Suncorp Bank, OntheNet, Department of Industry and Science, Griffith University, Regional Development Australia Gold Coast, Gold Coast Airport and Pindara Private Hospital.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Ian Cousins said he was extremely pleased with the level of sponsorship support for the awards.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Ian Cousins said the awards had grown significantly in size and importance during the past 20 years.

"The awards have grown to become the region's most comprehensive and prestigious awards scheme,'' said Mr Cousins.

"Each year between the months of May and November we give the owner and mangers of Gold Coast businesses more than 70 awards.
"And each year the competition gets tougher and the quality of the entrants becomes even more impressive. These days our winners and our sponsors are household names in the Queensland business sector."

Mr Cousins said the awards were run by a not-for-profit organisation and entry to the awards was free for all business owners.
"Without the support of our sponsors we could not run what is a very special event for the business community,'' he said.

"We are very appreciative that Flight Centre Business Travel have come on board as a major sponsor and we will ensure that they get full value for their commitment."
The GCBEA's major supporters are SMART McCann Worldgroup, Document Solutions Australia, Consulting Hall, Jupiter's Gold Coast, Regina King Photography, Bruce Lynton BMW, Bond University, KPMG, Bloomtools, Dreamweavers and the Gold Coast Suns.

The awards' media sponsors include the Gold Coast Bulletin, NBN Television, 92.5 Gold FM and 90.9 Sea FM.
