Gerry Harvey and Katie Page

The co-owners’ of Magic Millions, Harvey Norman Executive Chair, Gerry Harvey and Harvey Norman CEO, Katie Page were inducted into the Gold Coast Business Hall of Fame in November 2025.

The high-profile pair were presented with the honour before a crowd of more than 700 people at the 30th annual Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards Gala held at The Star Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Adam Twemlow said the unofficial Gold Coast residents’ efforts have helped to shape the Gold Coast’s sporting, cultural, retail and tourism landscape for 40 years.

After the international retail operation Harvey Norman listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1987, Gerry Harvey teamed up with advertising guru John Singleton and horse breeder Rob Ferguson to rebuild the Magic Millions thoroughbred auction and racing business in 1998.

In 2011, Gerry and Katie bought the Magic Millions out-right and set about transforming Magic Millions into the must-attend destination for thoroughbred racing excellence and world-class calendar of equine sporting events that are designed to appeal to everyone and all with the Gold Coast as the spectacular backdrop.

In 2025 alone, the Magic Millions Carnival contributed over $50 Million in economic value to the Gold Coast and Queensland with over 100,000 visitor bed nights created across the 14 days in January.

For over 20 years Katie Page has been the strongest advocate for the recognition, promotion and pathway creation for Australian women in sport, education and employment.

In 2004, Katie became the first woman appointed to the board of an Australian football code with her appointment to the National Rugby League board.

In 2005, she launched Harvey Norman Women in League initiative. Harvey Norman’s investment in the women’s game has enabled pathways for recognition and high-performance that has grown to become the rugby league competition powerhouses’ of Jillaroos, NRLW and the Women’s State of Origin series.

In 2012, Katie introduced the Magic Millions Racing Women’s Bonus to encourage greater participation and recognition for women in the Australian thoroughbred industry.

Since inception, more than 2100 two-year-old thoroughbreds have been registered with all female ownership. To underpin its significance and ensure an international profile and presence, Magic Millions appointed Zara Tindall MBE as the Patron of Magic Millions Racing Women - a role that continues to today.

Their combined business commitments, time and strategic investment have ensured that the women of Queensland and the Gold Coast have been the direct beneficiaries.

They have provided sponsorship and support for countless community organisations including brand partnerships with the Gold Coast Titans, the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team, basketball, netball, Surf Life Saving Australia, Thoroughbred welfare, soccer, cricket, surfing, in addition to the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams.
